Monthly Inquilab Incubator: The Botanical History of Abortion

April 7, 2026 | 6:30-7:30PM | Berkeley, CA

This month, we will share a fascinating story about abortions in colonial South Asia in the 19th-century, and analyze how our current abortion dilemmas are unexpectedly tied to colonial anti-abortion laws. We will then discuss the state of abortion in America today, and think together about where we can take action.

About the Inquilab Incubator

The Inquilab Incubator is a monthly club for people who want to stay aware and take action in a world where democratic rights and human rights are rapidly declining around us. In these gatherings we will:

  • Teach-in: Have someone who has analyzed a topic deeply share both the history of a topic and the legal/civic changes in the world around us today

  • Conversation Circle: Discuss these issues and reflect on what we can do to shift our world towards a place of peace and justice.

  • Closing Action: Take one concrete step that we have designed that you can complete in 15 minutes, and select one more step that we will try to take in the following month until we meet next!

We welcome everyone who is curious to discuss what is happening in the world around us, explore the history that got us here, and create possibilities for a better future. It is easy to feel hopeless in these tumultuous times, but the people united shall never be defeated. So please join us!
